नागौर में लगभग 55 से अधिक हाथ उपकरण इकाइयाँ हैं, जिनमें प्लायर्स (सरौता), हथौड़े, टिन कटर, घड़ीसाज़ और सुनार उपकरण आदि हस्त उपकरण निर्मित किये जाते हैं। निर्माता व्यक्तियों की सहायता के लिए ''हस्त उपकरण डिजाइन विकास और प्रशिक्षण केंद्र'', नागौर की स्थापना नागौर (राजस्थान) में की गई, जिसने 1988 में काम करना प्रारम्भ किया। इस प्रोजेक्ट का मुख्य उद्देश्य कंसल्टेंसी प्रदान करके नागौर में और उसके आसपास स्थित छोटे उद्योगों में और छोटे वर्गों में 'हैंड टूल इंडस्ट्री' विकसित करना है। इन सूक्ष्म और अति सूक्ष्म उद्योगों के लिए टूल रूम, हीट ट्रीटमेंट, मेटल फिनिशिंग, फोर्जिंग और टेस्टिंग, कॉमन फैसिलिटी सर्विसेज के क्षेत्रों में सलाहकार विस्तार सेवाएं प्रदान करके इनके उत्पाद डिजाइन, उत्पादन प्रक्रिया और लागत में कमी और लाभप्रदता में सुधार के लिए गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण के क्षेत्र में आधुनिक तकनीक को अपनाने के लिए लघु-स्तरीय इकाइयों की सहायता करना है। यहाँ उत्पादन की गुणवत्ता और प्रशिक्षित जनशक्ति के उन्नयन के लिए परीक्षण सुविधाएं और प्रशिक्षण सुविधाएं भी प्रदान की जाती हैं। यह केंद्र निम्नलिखित व्यापक गतिविधियों पर स्थानीय इकाइयों को सहायता प्रदान कर रहा है:-

• हस्त उपकरण निर्माण के क्षेत्र में परामर्श, सलाहकार, विस्तार सेवाएं और तकनीकी जानकारी।
• टूल रूम और मेटल फिनिशिंग में नौकरी की सुविधा प्रदान करके क्षेत्र में छोटे पैमाने की इकाइयों को सामान्य सुविधा सेवाएं।
• तकनीकी-प्रबंधकीय प्रशिक्षण के माध्यम से कौशल का उन्नयन।
• क्षेत्र में हाथ उपकरण उद्योग के समग्र विकास और विकास के लिए सेमिनार, कार्यशालाओं का आयोजन।
• हाथ उपकरण उद्योग के लिए सूचना और प्रसार का प्रलेखन।

There are about 55 hand tool units in Nagaur cluster. The Hand Tool Design Development and Training Centre, Nagaur has been set up at Nagaur (Rajasthan) which started functioning in 1988. The main objective of this Project is to develop hand tool industry in small and tiny sections located in and around Nagaur by providing consultancy and advisory extension services in the areas of tool room, heat treatment, metal finishing, forging and testing, common facility services to these small and tiny industries. They are also assisting small-scale units to adopt modern technology in the field of product design, production process and quality control for cost reduction and improvement in profitability. Testing facilities and training facilities are also provided for upgradation of quality of production and trained manpower.

The Centre is focussing the assistance to local units on the following broad activities:

• consultancy, advisory, extension services and technical know-how in the field of hand tool manufacturing.
• Common facility services to the small-scale units in the region by providing job work facilities in Tool Room and Metal Finishing.
• Up-gradation of skills by way of techno-managerial training.
• Conducting of Seminars, Workshops, Meeting for the overall development and growth of hand tool industry in the region.
• Documentation of information and dissemination to hand tool industry.
